Dairy farming

The republic's dairy cattle breeding is represented by the Belarusian black-motley cattle breed, which has a high genetic productivity potential. Cattle of this breed is practically the only source of milk and beef in the republic.

Beef cattle

The system of pedigree work in cattle breeding of the republic provides for the bulk of beef to be obtained from dairy and combined cattle and industrial crossbreeding of planned cows with specialized bulls.

Pig breeding

In the Republic of Belarus, there are 2.9 million heads of pigs in all categories of farms, including 2.5 million in agricultural organizations, of which 290 thousand in pedigree farms.

Horse breeding

There are about 34 thousand horses in the republic. Despite the small share (about 5%), the basis of the industry is the breeding direction of the use of horses. Currently, 18 pedigree agricultural enterprises for horse breeding are certified and operate.

Sheep breeding

Sheep breeding as one of the branches of animal husbandry has always been an integral part of the country's national economic complex. Currently, sheep breeding in Belplemzhivobedinenie is represented by RUE “Vitebsk breeding enterprise” where there are 772 heads (adults and young animals) of Romanov breed sheep.

Embryo transplantation

One of the most important sources of accelerated obtaining of high-value offspring from outstanding breeding animals is embryo transplantation.
Annually, more than 100 calf grafts are received at Belplemzhivobedineniy enterprises.

Dairy Labs

An indispensable condition for the implementation of the breeding programs of the republic is the availability of modern laboratories for the comprehensive analysis of the quality indicators of milk for the content of fat, protein and somatic cells. There are currently 6 such laboratories in the republic - one in each region.

Republican skill competition

On August 29-30, 2024, the Republican competition of skills among workers in artificial insemination of animals was held in the city of Smorgon. 42 specialists of district groups and business units in artificial insemination of animals, operators in artificial insemination of cattle and insemination of pigs gathered in the regional Cultural Center to demonstrate their professional skills.

Livestock farming is one of the key sectors of agriculture, which provides gross revenue, profit, and serious export potential. Our country supplies agricultural products to 100 countries, and dairy products to 60 countries.

At the grand opening of the republican competition, its participants were welcomed by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Alexandrovich Fedchenko.

The competition, which has become traditional, is held in order to thank, in your person, the workers in artificial insemination of animals for the enormous work that you do. It is difficult, but the country really needs it, - Sergey Aleksandrovich addressed the contestants.

The best representatives of the profession were also greeted by the first deputy chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Yuri Nikolaevich Valevaty. He thanked those present for their incredible contribution to ensuring the economic security of our Motherland. Yuri Nikolaevich noted that the competition brought together the "salt" of animal husbandry of the Belarusian land.Thanks in part to the workers in artificial insemination of animals, Belarus is among the top five world leaders in terms of dairy exports, and about 35% of meat products produced are exported outside the republic.

The competition was held in four nominations: the best link in artificial insemination of animals, the best operator in artificial insemination of cattle, the best operator in artificial insemination of pigs, and the best district group in artificial insemination of farm animals. The competition committee assessed the participants in each nomination using a 100-point system. Each winner of the competition was awarded a cash prize in the amount of: for 1st place - 170 basic units, for 2nd place - 140, for 3rd - 110.

In the nomination "Best link for artificial insemination of animals", first place was awarded to members of the link for artificial insemination of animals of OJSC "Velikoselskoye-Agro" of the Pruzhany district of the Brest region (Namazova S.I., Maistrenko O.S., Gutyrchik B.I.).

In the nomination "Best operator for artificial insemination of cattle", A.A. Kunitsky, veterinarian of OJSC "Kroshin" of the Baranovichi district of the Brest region, was recognized.

In the nomination "Best operator for artificial insemination of pigs" was recognized Strateeva S.M., operator for artificial insemination of pigs of JSC "Shaiterovo" of Verkhnedvinsky district of Vitebsk region.

In the nomination "Best district group for artificial insemination of farm animals" the winner was the district group for artificial insemination of farm animals of the Drogichin district of the Brest region (Korenev L.V., Punko V.V.).

The prizes to the winners of the competition were presented by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Linevich Anatoly Konstantinovich.
