Dairy laboratory

An indispensable condition for the implementation of the breeding programs of the republic is the availability of modern laboratories for the comprehensive analysis of the quality indicators of milk for the content of fat, protein and somatic cells. There are currently 6 such laboratories in the republic - one in each region.

The laboratories are equipped with modern imported and domestic equipment, as well as qualified personnel. A system for collecting and delivering milk samples from farms and dairy plants was developed, methods for reliable determination of milk quality indicators and a feedback system with enterprises were developed.

The main activity of the dairy laboratory is to control the quality of milk to assess the breeding value of animals (determination of fat, protein, urea and the number of somatic cells).

Services of RUE Regional Laboratory for the Determination of Qualitative Indicators of Milk

Since February 27, 2009, the laboratory has been issuing the State Standard Model (GSO) of milk with type approval certificates No. 557 and No. 558. Modern equipment was purchased on which the determination of GSO is carried out according to international standards:

  • determination of the mass fraction of fat according to STB ISO 1211-2008 (Rose-Gottlieb method), STB ISO 2446-2009 (Gerber method);
  • determination of the mass fraction of protein according to STB ISO 8968-1-2008 - Kjeldahl method;
  • determination of the number of somatic cells - counting under a microscope according to STB ISO 13366-1-2005.

The dairy laboratory provides all customers with standard samples necessary for daily testing, calibration and verification of milk analyzers to determine the mass fraction of fat, protein and the number of somatic cells. RUE Regional Laboratory for the Determination of Qualitative Indicators of Milk may act as an arbitration laboratory in contentious issues between farms and dairy plants.

At present, the laboratory of the RUE Regional Laboratory for Determining the Qualitative Indicators of Milk has the right to take part in the selection of milk samples for testing, to issue an opinion on the test results. The laboratory worked out a system for collecting and delivering milk samples from farms and dairy plants, a method for reliably determining the quality indicators of milk, and a feedback system with enterprises.

The laboratory is independent of the customers supplying the products for testing and is provided with qualified personnel.
